GLENDRONACH BATCH 8 CASK STRENGTH
This wonderfully sherried Highlander is the eighth batch of the Cask Strength series from the GlenDronach Distillery. It's been matured in Spanish oak Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, before it was bottled at a warming 61% ABV. Very chocolatey, jammy stuff, great for an evening sipper. The finish has a fresh espresso, with gooey chocolate pudding and cigar box finish.
GLENDRONACH PORT WOOD
Following on from its Peated Port Wood Finish, GlenDronach have released another sumptuous single malt that has enjoyed a rest in Port casks. This particular expression is a 10 year old whisky, initally aged in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks before being finished in Port pipes from Portugal's Douro valley. It has brandied cherries, blackcurrant and chocolate digestive biscuits on the palate. For the finish, it has honey, biscotti, raisin and orange zest.
LE GIN CARMINA
Carmina is made according to the same principles as the original Le Gin, each flavour is macerated and redistilled separately to optimize the extraction of flavours. The distillates are then blended before bottling. This time the bouquet is summery. It combines flowers and fruits with the use of raspberry, black currant, elderflower, vanilla, lemon and orange in addition to juniper and cider apple varieties from Normandy.
KOZUE GIN
This gin features several botanicals local to Wakayama Prefecture, where it is made, including mandarin peel, lemon peel, and sansho. The juniper used is imported from Europe. However, what sets Kozue apart is the use of Japanese umbrella pine (koyamaki). The nose brings abundant pine and pepper spice, while the palate rolls out with citrus, pine, and spice. For a 47% ABV release, it’s extremely smooth and drinkable.
